Internal communications campaign receives Scottish Creative Award

Forestry Commission Scotland

Our recent internal communications campaign for the Forestry Commission Scotland has been awarded a nomination for best use of animation or illustration in the recent Scottish Creative Awards.

The internal communications campaign consisted of a series of eight posters that highlight some of the health and safety risks faced by its staff on a daily basis both in office and outdoor work environments.

The posters feature a series of illustrations, each of which focused on a single health and safety issue. The illustrations have been created in a retro style using a black and white illustrative approach combined with strong colours across the suite. The illustrations use gentle humour to raise awareness of the issues, encouraging forestry commission employees and contractors to think differently about the issues and how they should affect the way they work without wagging fingers or patronising. The copy supports the illustrations to provide advice on what workers should do in order to stay safe.

This internal communications campaign aims to have a genuine impact on the working practices of Forestry Commission workers and we’re really pleased that the posters have been welcomed in the organisation. It’s a real bonus that the campaign has also been recognised for its creativity.
