The new National Performance Centre for Sport (NPCS) is coming to Edinburgh! Edinburgh won the race to be the location for the £30m NPCS facility, beating off strong competition from Stirling and Dundee. In September, Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the winner to be the joint bid between Heriot-Watt University and the City of Edinburgh Council.
This win is a phenomenally exciting sporting opportunity for Scotland and Edinburgh’s vision is clear:
To develop a world-class performance sports centre, inspiring a whole new generation of Scottish sportsmen and women to compete on the global stage.
The NPCS will contain a multi-sport performance centre and be home to the National Football Academy. This unique sporting facility, located in one premium, green location is accessible from across Scotland and the world. The Edinburgh win will deliver benefits to thousands of Scots in their local communities, in and around the City Region, both in sport and business. Locating the NPCS in Edinburgh delivers an inspirational legacy for Scotland’s future sporting heroes.
Designed to heighten public awareness and encourage backing for the Edinburgh bid, Hookson’s strategic campaign delivered in spades. Understanding the importance of gaining public backing for the Edinburgh bid, we created the dynamic Go Edinburgh! brand and eye-catching logo. This work supported the design and development of our integrated multi-channel approach, incorporating a website; Facebook and Twitter campaigns; the bid document itself; short motion graphic films; and high profile bus advertising with our friends at Lothian Buses.
